Geraldo de Barros was born in Xavantes, in the state of São Paulo.
A photographer and plastic artist, he became involved with the Unilabor cooperative in 1954, becoming responsible for the design of the industry's wooden and iron furniture.
In 1964, he left Unilabor and set up Hobjeto in partnership with Aluísio Bione. The furniture was produced to order and featured in magazine advertisements. In the 1980s, Geraldo de Barros left Hobjeto.
