Felipe Varanda

Felipe Varanda began his career as a photographer at Jornal do Brasil and Folha de S.Paulo, and as a freelancer he published in the main Brazilian magazines. He holds a master's degree in Communication from ECO-UFRJ, graduated in Journalism in 1998 and completed his postgraduate studies in Photography as a Study Tool in the Social Sciences at UCAM. His photographic essay "Arquelogia de Futuras Ruínas" (Archelogy of Future Ruins), taken over ten years in Rio's port region, was exhibited at the National Historical Museum in 2015 and has works acquired by the permanent collection of the Rio Art Museum (MAR). He held the solo exhibition "Vestígios" at the Memo Brasil gallery in 2016, and has taken part in various group shows such as "Como poeira ao vento" at the Rio Art Museum, as well as taking part in editions of FotoRio, the International Photography Festival in Rio de Janeiro. He was awarded the Oi Futuro Urban Interference Prize for his photographic installation Transposição do Rio Carioca in 2008.
