Warsaw, Poland, 1922–2020
Jorge Zalszupin was born in Warsaw, Poland. With a degree in architecture, he arrived in Brazil in 1950 and settled in São Paulo. He joined a group of cabinetmakers in 1955 and founded L'Atelier. He produced wooden, upholstered and metal furniture. From the 1960s onwards, Zalszupin also started using plastic. Having already sold L'Atelier, he left the company at the end of the 1980s.
