Rodrigo Garcia

Montevideo, Uruguay

Rodrigo Garcia is a South American designer and environmental activist advocating for a world without plastics. Born in Flores, a small town in the countryside of Uruguay, he is currently based between Uruguay and Paris.

Rodrigo is the founder and creative force behind AMEN, an independent project launched in 2020 that has become recognized for its sustainable design candles. That same year, AMEN debuted at Dover Street Market Paris with the installation Mushroom Conversations, conceived by Rodrigo with sound design by Steve Rachmad. Since then, the project has traveled internationally, appearing at Design Miami, Frieze New York, Galerie Kernweine, Galeria del Paseo, and ArtRio, among other venues, promoting biodegradable alternatives as a response to global plastic pollution.

Without formal training in design, Rodrigo has developed a distinctive practice that merges activism, sustainability, and collectible design. His work has been featured in publications including The New York Times, Wallpaper*, Financial Times, Vogue, and Numéro.
