rodrigo simão

Rodrigo Simão considers his activity as a designer to be a natural expansion of his work as an architect. Graduated from FAU/UFRJ in architecture and urbanism in 2000, his first pieces are the result of a creative solution to reclaim noble waste from his architectural projects, seeking a zero waste production chain inspired by the concept "cradle to cradle". Through the combination of industrial technology and artisanal tradition, fluid integration with local nature, responsible choice of materials and production, and its social use, Simon's pieces coherently reflect the designer's goal of humanizing architecture. The oeuvre of the designer/architect has won awards, and his pieces were exhibited at national design events and exhibitions, in addition to maintaining presence in renowned international fairs and auction houses. Rodrigo Simão also had his work published in Phaidon's book “Chair – 500 Designs that matter” in 2018, besides having two pieces in Europe's largest private chair design ensemble, the Thierry Barbier-Mueller Collection, to be published in the book "A Chair & You" in 2022.
