Jean Gillon

Jean Gillon was born in Iasi, Romania in 1919 and graduated from the Faculty of Fine Arts and Architecture at the National University. He arrived in Brazil in 1956, settling in São Paulo. In 1958, he decided to make furniture for his decoration projects and, later, for his Adorno stores. From 1964 he dedicated himself to the international market, exporting to 22 countries. His Jangada armchair, created in 1968, is recognized for its original use of nylon netting and was awarded a prize in 1991 by MOVESP. Over the years he founded the Cidam and Woodart factories and worked for Italma, Village and Probel. In 1992, she was named Professional of the Year by ABD - the Brazilian Association of Interior Designers.
